This season The Row by our favorite twins, the Olsens, takes us to a world of pure, soft and delicate lightness. Inspired by the 18th century scrolls by It Jakuch depicting the Japanese traditions of bird-and flower paintings, the new collection celebrates a spirit of subtle colors and exquisite layering. Settled folk influences ease up the couture attitude with accents of passementerie tradition.
Tailoring has a strong presence in the collection with a new agility of shapes and drapes. The lingerie touch embraces perfectly the feeling of softness, becoming a slip carried through different silhouettes and expressing a feminine slant to a more masculine spin of tuxedos.
In the palette of colors, a base of various shades of white sets the tone of the collection. Vanilla, eggshell, milk, and salt recall the diverse richness of white cockatoo plumage from the paintings of Jakuch. Paired with black, the result is sharp and sophisticated. Wheat and malt further enhance the play of textured neutrals and bring to light the silk canvas backgrounds on which the paintings are based. A new variation of khaki called Truffle gets combined in matte and shine applications while deep jewel tones of Red Rose and Cranberry have subtle contrast and introduce a flaura and fana to the season. Prussian Blue acts as a new navy in various applications and is enhanced when set with black.
